Downloadable MusEdit Demos

This demo includes all the latest MusEdit features and several sample music files. It allows you to open scores, play them through your sound system, use all of MusEdit's features, and print, so you can see MusEdit's printing abilities, but it DOES NOT allow you to save files, and it will only permit you to convert 20 Midi files (of your choice) to notation.
The Vista/XP/2K demo uses Windows new Help system and works well with Vista security. The 95/98/ME/NT demo uses the older Windows Help system and avoids using system files which are only present in newer versions of Windows. Other than that the features in both versions are almost identical.
Note: If you are more comfortable speaking German
than English, try the German version of MusEdit: Deutsch
Demo
Instructions for downloading and running the Demo:
Step 1: Click on the link for your version of Windows:
MusEdit Demo for Win Vista/XP/2K
MusEdit Demo for Win 95/98/ME/NT
to download a file called MusEdit-Demo-Setup (it's 3.5 MBytes, and takes less than 2 minutes with a high speed connection, or about 15 minutes to download at 56K). When Windows asks what you want to do with this file, click on Save... and choose a place to save it.
Step 2: After downloading, install the demo version of MusEdit...
Find the icon for the MusEdit-Demo-Setup in the folder in which it was downloaded (or
on the Desktop) and then double click on it to install the Demo version of
MusEdit. If you have any questions or problems with this, jump directly to step 4.
Step 3: Run the demo version of MusEdit...
After installing the demo, you should find a MusEdit icon on the desktop -
double click on that icon to run the MusEdit demo version. You can also
find MusEdit by clicking on the Start menu and looking for MusEdit under
"Programs". If you have any questions or problems with this, jump to step 4.
Step 4: Check out Essential Tips to get Started With MusEdt for some tips to get you going right away with the demo. Also, feel free to call 1-800-234-0427 to immediately get step by step instructions to get started with anything you might want to do with MusEdit! There won't be any phone menus, long waits, or any of that. A real person (Doug Rogers, the guy who wrote MusEdit) will almost always be there to answer the phone and be happy to talk to you. Once you know how to use MusEdit it's pretty easy, and if you want to work things out on your own, feel free to do so. But a ten minute walk through with a real, live person will get you up and running right away. Plus, you can ask any questions and learn how to do almost anything with MusEdit. Doug likes to talk with MusEdit users, so feel free to call!
Note:If you want to remove the demo later, go to Start Menu | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs and select MusEdit from the list, then click on the Remove button. If you decide to purchase MusEdit you'll be able to convert the Demo to a working version quite easily, plus the full MusEdit package with an installation disk (mainly for backup purposes) and the printed manual will be sent to you.
General Notes About Using The Demo
1) If you have any problems downloading please send mail to Yowza Software describing the problem, and a demo disk can be mailed to you if necessary.
2) If you've downloaded the file, but you don't know where it was put on your system, use Windows' "Find" feature by hitting the Start menu, then select "Find Files or Folders", then enter the name of the file you downloaded (you'll see the filenames in the section below, such as "MusEdit-Demo-Setup.exe"). Once Windows finds the file you can simply double-click on it right in the find window to extract it's files.
3) This demo is compressed as a self-extracting zip file. This means you download the file, then execute it (by double-clicking on it, for example) and it will expand itself into all the files you need to run the demo. All the demo files will be put in a folder called "MusEdit-Demo Installation Files" on your desktop. Double click on the "MusEdit Demo Setup" icon in that folder to install the demo.
4) Be sure to check out the Help menu for very extensive help about all aspects of MusEdit, and especially check the Getting Started section for an easy example of how to enter simple music consisting of chords, treble, lyrics, and tablature.
5) Check File|Set Preferences to see how you can customize MusEdit for your particular tastes. These preferences will allow you to fine tune the printed output and you can also set margins, fonts, and other preferences from here.
6) Check other areas of this web site for more clues and tips on some of the interesting things you can do with MusEdit, such as setting up "Mutual Translation", translating between alternate tunings, etc. See User Questions, Detailed Examples, and Suggestions and Tips.
7) Remember that if you order MusEdit you will be sent a well-illustrated 284 page manual which goes into all details of the program!
8) If you have a MIDI capable sound card (and most are MIDI capable) you will be able to hear the tunes you enter, and the scores included in the Samples folder.
